Amanda Knox

This is a truly sad story about the person. She has some much going for her but she has made some bad decisions in her life. I will be watching this story to see the new developments. This is the first time that I have heard of this story. I am really trying to stay on top of these stories but it is getting really hard with my new schedule. See you down the road.

It's been two and a half months since Amanda Knox first grabbed headlines as a suspect in the Nov. 1 killing of her British flatmate in Italy, and news about the case has become almost a daily beat for several European papers.

But the Times Online of London published Sunday an in-depth piece on Knox worthy of note because of the reporting it includes -- and doesn't include -- from Seattle.
Among the tid bits: A comparison of the UW to England's Oxbridge, a reference to Knox as the "Dark Lady of Seattle," as she's been dubbed by an Italian newspaper, a note about how almost all of Knox's friends refused to talk to the reporter, John Follain, and just one long new interview with someone here who knew Knox -- Jeff Tripoli, news editor at the Daily.

To lead into that interview, which included nothing more scandalous than a mention of Knox's love for tea parties and a story about an un-revealing Halloween costume, Follain wrote this telling passage:
It's a measure of how badly the more lurid stories about Knox have been received that Jeff Tripoli, the news editor of the university newspaper, posted on his blog: "F*** the British press".
"John Follain spent two months in Italy and Seattle finding out the truth about Amanda Knox," reads the subhead to the story.

Not sure Seattle helped. After all the scraping and scouring, there may not be much truth left.
P.S. -- Knox, who has long been referred to as a University of Washington student, no longer is. UW spokesman Bob Roseth was surprised to hear the question this afternoon. "I don't know. No one's ever asked me that," he said, but he'd check. A few minutes later he called back. "She's not registered, so technically she's not a student right now. She's a former student and could be a student in the future, but she's not a student now."
